Shalom. We got out our books for the Spring Feasts (Pesah, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, and Shavuot). So I figured, it’s time for a book roundup. I’m always up for finding out someone else’s book lists and a sucker for beautifully illustrated literature.
First of all the Word is the most important book you could ever have in your possession or read. The rest really need to be vetted against Scripture. We really enjoy reading ISR Scriptures as our main Bible. I highly recommend the imitation or real leather over the soft cover. It holds up a lot better. We have also been reading the Aramaic Targums which Josh Truex has been restoring the paleo Hebrew name of Elohim, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄.
We also enjoy looking at the Rose Publishing Charts for the visuals, but I will warn you there is some truth but heavy on the leaven, so be aware. The timelines and maps are very nice.
We get most of our books used off of Abe Books so I would check there first for any books that I refer to.
Exodus by Brian Wildsmith
The Story of Passover by David Adler
Moses in the Bulrushes by Warwick Hutton
Moses by Leonard Everett Fisher
The Longest Night by Laurel Snyder
The Donkey Who Carried a King by RC Sproul (We have the audio cd)
The Passover Lamb by Linda Elovitz Marshall
The Little Red Hen and the Passover Matzah by Leslie Kimmelman
I don’t have a ton of books, as we want to keep the focus on Scripture, but having some living books to get children involved is always a blessing. Some of these books came from a list cultivated by Christine Miller over at A Little Perspective . All Through the Ages is the list we are using to find living books for our homeschool library.
I would also recommend checking out Bible Pathway Adventures for Biblical Feast printables and also some fun videos on YouTube.
Also on YouTube, Bible Series, are cute little animated videos from Little House Story Corner. We love Lea’s readings!
