I got all this idea from my dear friend, Sandra Wright, so she gets all the credit. She sent us a letter and challenged us to learn Psalm/Tehillim 119 with them. They also sent beautiful handmade bookmarks to read 1 Proverb/Mishlĕ a day. This is what homeschooling looks like for us unschoolers in the perfect Torah of freedom.
First, it’s helpful to know the Aleph Bet just like when we’re learning our English ABC’s.
Here’s a couple Aleph Bet songs to learn about them.

The first letter of the Aleph Bet is of course, Aleph. Aleph is the ox and symbolizes strength, leader, first. Here’s a couple short videos your family might enjoy.

I designed a printable on 119 on Canva to hang up while we learn about each stanza. We will be taking our time as it takes to learn and go through each verse.
She wrote each verse on colored paper and then cut them up to have the children put them in order. This is a fantastic way to connect them to memory and can be done over and over again.
Each day, she takes a new verse and has the words individually cut to put them in order to break it down even further to memory. Older children you could have some printed and leave out some words or have them treat it as copywork. Other methods we love to use are write it on a chalkboard, draw it in a salt tray, use scrabble letters to form missing words. There are so many ideas out there.
These cards come from HalleluYAH Scriptures and are a great visual for learning. They also offer Hebrew Lesson videos when you order.
The biggest tool we are using is this Hebrew Word Pictures book. I found one used on Abebooks. It goes through Tehillim 119 and also offers in depth studies on how the letters each have meaning and when they’re put together what the words mean. It is a beautiful language and I cannot wait to immerse myself and the children into it.
May we encourage each other in the Word and capture it in our heart with the help of the Ruach Ha’Kodesh. We must build on that Rock, Yahusha Ha’Mashiach. He is our solid foundation and our Daily Bread. Shalom!
update: I’ve added a free little mini study for the aleph stanza to give you some ideas on how to further incorporate this as your homeschool or bible study for the children.
