Yum Tarua’ah (Yom Teruah) also known as the Feast of Trumpets is the first of the Fall Feast season.
We begin the Fall Feast season by sounding the alarm on this High Shabat. We don’t work or make others work, nor do we buy/sell/trade. Instead we feast and hear the ring of the shupar (ram’s horn) which reminds us of our Father’s voice.
Let’s make some noise Yashara’al! A day of shouting and blasting. We cry out and let the shupar ring. It will be a calling for those with repentant hearts, awaken those who have been spiritually asleep, and those who’ve prepared their garments and are patiently awaiting His return will weep and cry with joyous triumph.
I saw someone post about a Thankful Jar they put out on Yum Tarua’ah (Trumpets) and fill it up until Sakut (Sukkot, Feast of Tabernacles) to read by candlelight during Sakut and I thought that would be really special to incorporate. It is a time to gather with friends/family and throw up shouts to the shamayam (heavens) and declare what He has done and is doing!
It is also a heavy reminder, a warning, that His Judgements are coming. It is a time for tashubah, a call to repentance. He IS coming back again for His bride. There’s an air of urgency. Do you feel the stirring to keep His Feasts, His Commands, His Turah and walk as our Mashayach (Messiah) Yahusha did?
Speaking of food, we set out to make our shupar and commandment shaped organic sugar cookies. We used beet root powder, spirulina, and tumeric to make different colors.
Our friends hosted and my friend Ashlee always has the most beautiful spread. She made us a loaded baked potato chili bar complete with beef hot dogs y’all. Oh it was GOOOOOOD.
The ambiance was just perfect.
Look at the most adorable sign their daughter made!
We wrapped up some organic sugar cones stuffed them with dandie’s marshmallows and organic chocolate chips then wrapped in foil (yes a rarity here) and shoved them in a huge fire pit. It was YAHSOME!
They made homemade shofars from some old toilet paper rolls, party blowers, and some tape. They looked super realistic and I couldn’t resist this beautiful silhouette.
Well now who’s excited for the feasts? We are.

We do not do Rosh Hashana so we ommited the apple cutter to use just for fall later!
