Sukkot, or by the pictograph (read right to left) is Samak 𐤎, Kap 𐤊, Uau 𐤅, Tau 𐤕, SaKUT𐤎𐤊 𐤅𐤕. It’s also called the Feast of Tabernacles in English. You can read all about all the Biblical Feasts in UYQRA/Leviticus 23. On the Biblical calendar, it starts the 15th day of the 7th month and lasts for 8 days. The 1st and 8th day are Shabat rest days, no buying/selling, no working or making others work. It is a celebration of the harvest.
‘And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of good trees, branches of palm trees, twigs of leafy trees, and willows of the stream, and shall rejoice before 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym for seven days. ‘And you shall celebrate it as a festival to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 for seven days in the year – a law forever in your generations. Celebrate it in the seventh chadash/month. ‘Dwell in booths for seven days; all who are native born in Yashar’al dwell in booths, so that your generations know that I made the children of Yashar’al dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim. I am 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym.’ ”

We spent our time reading Scripture together by the campfire and snacking. Such a beautiful slower paced life. I brought some activities to do by the fire – crocheting & tzitzit string. Evenings were spent singing and dancing, all esteem to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄. And of course, lots of shofar blasting! AhLaLuYAH!
I love just having to be in the moment. There’s so many daily activities we don’t do because we’re so busy. When we slow down, we have time to be intentional and do some of the things we’ve been neglecting physically, emotionally, spiritually. Learning skills was our focus, one of them was knife sharpening.
Another activity we did was learning to process a fire from learning which trees to look for, where to look. It was good because it had rained so we had to search a little bit more diligently. We got some tinder and made tinder nests then gathering all our supplies before starting the fire. We learned, the worse case scenario is having all your tinder blow up and not having smaller wood processed.
My son loved coming in in the evenings and journaling in his notebook. He’s a teenager and it’s important to write down those thoughts and feelings.
Our friends were able to hop over and spend Shabat with us. They brought their kayaks. We enjoyed finding a spot by water. We went on nature hikes, fishing, and the children found lots of things to build toy boats out of and play with. We also did lots of bike riding which was nice because we’ve stayed places that were complete mud.
We visited friends (the same ones that had the baked potato bar that I shared in the Camping Menu Post). They had activities like saw blade sharpening, axe throwing, zip lining, trampolines, board games, and even taught us some macrame.
We finished up our week with learning different types of knot tying with some paracord and how to make a shelter with your bank line. (I need to brush up on this for sure)
Sakut has been such a blessing to our family and we hope that your family. Here’s a look at 2021. We are in a time right now where many are waking up to the Truth that the Whole Bible is applicable and rejecting pagan holidays and worship. We want our captivity to be turned around. We want to return to the promised land.
“And it shall be, when all these words come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you shall bring them back to your heart among all the nations where 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym drives you, and shall turn back to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym and obey His voice, according to all that I command you today, with all your heart and with all your being, you and your children, then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym shall turn back your captivity, and shall have compassion on you, and He shall turn back and gather you from all the peoples where 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 your Alahym has scattered you.
DaBaRYM/Deuteronomy 30:1-3
and I just had to include a funny throwback of our first Sakut in our backyard. We had no idea what we were doing but we knew we needed to be doing it. We had read the Scriptures and we were just so excited to blow that tiny little shofar. We made some instruments out of old boxes, cups, beans, and rice and just shook them and praised. It was such a delight. We took some hikes and did some scavenger hunts that I found.
PS if you want a legit shofar, they’re an investment and we highly recommend The Shofar Man.
Just remember, you’re not going to know how to start. You’re not going to understand everything. You’re not going to be in the same place you were 1 year ago. The important thing is to seek His Ways, to return to Him, to ask for the ancient paths. To see the growth we’ve made is so cool. I am just so in awe of our mighty Alahym! Praise YAH!
Thus says 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ “And I raised up watchmen over you, and said, ‘Listen to a voice of a shophar!’ But they said, ‘We do not listen.’ “Therefore hear, you nations, and know, O congregation, what is upon them! “Hear, O earth! See, I am bringing evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to My words, nor My Torah – and they rejected it.
